The Ladies Auxiliary is a very active group involved in many different aspects of the parish. Aside from supporting the Knights in their endeavors, they also work as a group to encourage activities that engage parishioners and their families.
This close-knit group of women pray regularly, not only during meetings, but also at regular times during the week. Thursday nights are currently dedicated to praying the rosary together as a group via a web meeting. We also hold an annual retreat each year which is well attended and always a very spiritual time for us.
The Ladies share in taking care of the sacred linens used on the altar during Mass each week. This involves a special method of cleaning as well as carefully pressing them to keep a ready supply on hand. Many of the linens used at Mass were donated by our group. We also clean the candle stands used on the altar.
Many Ladies serve in various ministries within the parish including the Bereavement Committee, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Social Committee, lectors, and the choir.
Annual Bake Sale
Our annual fundraiser is the bake sale which is held the weekend before Thanksgiving. Home-baked goodies including cakes, pies, cookies, breads and more are prepared by the ladies and sold before and after the weekend Masses. Parishioners are encouraged to support the sale to complement their holiday baking needs. We also sell one-pound bags of pecans (orders taken before the sale).
During the sale, we serve complimentary homemade hot chocolate, apple cider, and coffee.
We have created a cookbook full of wonderful recipes contributed by parishioners and members. These cookbooks remain on sale ($20 each) so contact us if you would like to purchase one for yourself or as a gift.
Family Bingo
Periodically throughout the year, the Ladies Auxiliary sponsors an evening of fun for the entire family. Bingo is held normally on a Saturday evening following the 4:00 p.m. Mass. Cards are 25 cents per card per game. We play 10 games and jackpot at the end featuring a "cover all" game. Cash prizes are given away and are based on the number of people attending. You may play as many cards as you like and money is collected just prior to each game played.
During our Bingo games, we also serve a hot dog supper which includes hot dogs, chips, a drink and dessert for $5.00.
This is a very popular event and we enjoy bringing parents, grandparents and even grandchildren together for a fun evening.
Turkey Toss
One of the most enjoyable activities sponsored by our group is our annual Turkey Toss. This event is usually held the first weekend in November after the Sunday morning Mass. It's a really fun outdoor event and the venue is our beautiful yard near the grotto. A course is established and participants (adults, kids, and tweens) toss a frozen turkey or chicken as far as they can (picture a shot put and you get the idea).
Registration is $5 for each participant and cash prizes are awarded based on the number of participants.
This is a great way to bring families together and enjoy a beautiful fall afternoon of fun.
